American hostage pleads for negotiations
I’m having trouble swallowing these news stories… Quotes like the following really strike a chord:
In Washington, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the United States is “thoroughly engaged with the Iraqis and with others” to free the hostage.
“We do not negotiate with terrorists,” she said, citing long-standing U.S. policy, but said the country is “working very, very hard to try to secure the safety of the American.”
On the evening news Rice was quoted as saying,
“Negotiations only encourage the terrorists…”
My question is this… At what point do you have to admit that the terrorists already seem motivated? Is it when 100 American non-combatants have been beheaded? 1,000? 10,000? How many does it take to realize that for some reason or another they are already motivated?
Unfortunately, asking a question like that would probably get you thrown out of the White House Press Corp. and added to a list…
I know, I know, I’m so gonna get audited this year…

Things like this make me smile…
What is next? 30-50 year olds coming back to sue the schools due to post traumatic stress from High School exams graded with red ink? Or pehaps schools should just stop grading students completely. After all doesnt this categorize students by an assigned grade? Can’t this be damaging to the D and F students self esteem. Whatever are they to do, it’s not like its possible for them to study harder and get an A or B… right? I know, I know why do I bother trying to advocate personal responsibility? Thanks Bush for that no student left behind garbage…
Well, let’s try this out… Does the following excerpt make you feel tense, or stressful?
Parents objected. Red writing, they said, was “stressful.” The principal said teachers were just giving constructive advice and the color of ink used to convey that message should not matter. But some parents could not let it go.
Need a minute to recover… I’ll wait. Better now? Good… how about this quick check…
THIS IS THE WORST TERM PAPER THAT I HAVE EVER READ!!
THIS IS THE WORST TERM PAPER THAT I HAVE EVER READ!!
Is the use of blue ink supposed to make the student feel any better about being an idiot? Does it change the message? What happens if the teacher grading a paper with blue ink happens to press a bit hard and the grade seems a bit bolder than the other students grades? Could this make the student anxious?
Yet again, another slippery slope that the liberal band of monkey’s seems to want to go down…
