We Will Not Negotiate with Terrorists…
American hostage pleads for negotiations
I’m having trouble swallowing these news stories… Quotes like the following really strike a chord:
In Washington, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the United States is “thoroughly engaged with the Iraqis and with others” to free the hostage.
“We do not negotiate with terrorists,” she said, citing long-standing U.S. policy, but said the country is “working very, very hard to try to secure the safety of the American.”
On the evening news Rice was quoted as saying,
“Negotiations only encourage the terrorists…”
My question is this… At what point do you have to admit that the terrorists already seem motivated? Is it when 100 American non-combatants have been beheaded? 1,000? 10,000? How many does it take to realize that for some reason or another they are already motivated?
Unfortunately, asking a question like that would probably get you thrown out of the White House Press Corp. and added to a list…
I know, I know, I’m so gonna get audited this year…
